This exhibition is all around impressive, jarring and delightful at the same time. But the awe caused by the beauty of ‘The American Collection’ at first impression is hard to describe. “The American Collection series is a grouping of story quilts that critically confronts Black women’s essential but often overlooked contributions to the history of the United States” Kudos to the curators who engage you deeply with a series of intense painted portraits to then surprise you with the warmth and vibrancy of these quilts!
