Established in 2021, the LOEWE FOUNDATION / Studio Voltaire Award celebrates talent, individuality and original thinking within contemporary art practice. The first chapter of the award benefits seven artists with two years of support, including mentorship, a bursary and rent-free studio space. As we head into the second year, we commissioned awardee Josiah Moktar (@josiahmoktar) to photograph portraits of their peers and their studios. Ufuoma Essi (@ufuoma.essi) is a video artist and filmmaker whose work revolves around Black feminist epistemology and the configuration of displaced histories.
