Hello! I’m posting a bit less these days because I’m travelling. I’m staying at my grandpa’s house and sometimes he falls into a story of his childhood. This morning he described the house he grew up in, which was later taken by the “diviziye” - they were an army division created from the guomindang army that had been left behind when the communists came. Anyway, this house was surrounded by a small ériq (a stream?) that had tall trees on either side of it - trees that were quality enough to be used for building houses. There was an orchard full of different types of apples, and surrounding that, next to the walls, were peach trees. Apparently the peach trees needed the cover of the walls because of strong winds. And they would bend and wrap them during the worst of the season. I’m so curious about just how many different types of apples I could taste if we were still there..
