Okay, week one of the Big Kids, Bigger Feelings tour is officially in the books… and wow.
Yes, there were incredible conversations, amazing people, and the surreal moments of seeing my book on national TV. But behind the scenes? Here were the not-so-glamorous moments:
I totally forgot to book a pedicure, so there I was buying quick dry nail polish 10 minutes before the TikTok event and painting only my visible toes in the middle of Times Square.
Then I got lost in Times Square more than once (the irony of being a grown adult giving parenting advice while spinning in circles with Google Maps will not be lost on me). I was juggling pumping between interviews and signings, crossing my fingers I’d remembered all the parts this time. And through it all, missing my kids back home and sending little videos back-and-forth each day just to stay connected.
And of course, the usual travel bloopers, bags in the wrong place, last minute shoe swaps, coffee spilled on my shirt, the works.
It was messy and imperfect and honestly kind of hilarious. But it was also real life. The book is about helping us show up in the hard, human, chaotic moments with kids… and this week reminded me that adults need that same grace, too.
So here’s to the bloopers, the missed turns, the last minute nail polish application, and the reminder that the messy parts are part of the story.
If you haven’t grabbed your copy of Big Kids, Bigger Feelings yet, I’d love for you to join me in this messy, beautiful journey.
