Shrine to The Otherworldly- While I certainly cannot lay claim to the discovery of this formation, I must say that after much deliberation that I consider it to be the most outstanding singular hoodoo that I know of in the world. There are bigger ones. There are ones with more elaborate coloration, but for intricacy and overall visual impact-this is my pick. I rarely feel so definitively about hierarchical rankings of natural beauty, but this place left me speechless. It definitely helps that in the course of 48 hours exploring this area that I witnessed lightning strike behind it, a rainbow form overhead, a beautiful sunset explode behind it(pictured here) and to top it off, while shooting the milky way rising over it to the south, a burrowing owl silently flew into frame and sat motionless five feet away from me until the click of my camera shutter startled it.
