On Friday I was getting anxious to get out and photograph, so Friday afternoon I headed out in search of a location for sunset. I couldn't find anything I liked, and knowing I hadn't quite gotten all I wanted out of Lookout Point, I headed there. The bonus was knowing that @morsescribstonegrill food truck was set up there, so I grabbed an order of their seafood nachos before I set up to photograph. The sunset was amazing, but I realized the Milky Way would be up around 10:30, and the moon didn't rise until 11:30, giving me an hour to work with the islands with the Milky Way behind. Allen's Seafood has some security lights on their dock that caused me some issues when it got dark, casting an ugly light on the islands. Thankfully I'd covered myself with a shot of the islands at blue hour, and when the Milky Way was up, the tide was well on its way out. I was able to walk out to the island on the right, get to the far side and get unobstructed Milky Way images without that security light. I then composited the blue hour islands image with the Milky Way image for my final composition. Well worth the extra work!
