Did you know that Rocky Mountain National Park has a vegetation crew? Meet Stacey, one of our vegetation crew interns.
As a member of the park's vegetation crew, staff like Stacey work to manage invasive plant species, restore areas of the park that have been damaged by human use, and work to monitor the park's rare plant populations. Vegetation crew members work to collect seeds found in the park, grow those seeds into healthy plants in the park's greenhouse and nursery, and then plant them back in the park in places where the native vegetation has been damaged.
When asked what she loves about being an intern in Rocky, Stacey said "I love being able to use science to make a positive impact on this beautiful place so that we can leave it stronger and healthier for future generations."
You can help Rocky's vegetation crew protect this incredible place we all love. Walking off trail creates social trails and increases the problems of soil erosion, which can have a huge impact on native plants. Help us protect Rocky's plants by staying on the park's designated trails.
