I spent the lockdown in New York City, mostly looking down from my window at the deserted city, and Central Park. The exact view that the protagonist of The Reservoir, Ridley, has. And like Ridley, I started to take time-lapse photos of the sun rise over the reservoir with my phone. It was almost like a daily affirmation for me—the sun was unaffected, unbothered by this virus, and one day, so would we be. Each day was numbingly the same and yet each sunrise was different, gloriously, even if only slightly. The appearance of some clouds could make a world of difference.
