The Lookbook and full article are so beautiful! 🙌🏽✨✨✨ * * I created my ooak Mariée headpiece from a French marriage globe from the turn of the century in need of some tlc! * * Globe de Mariées or marriage globes were a lovely way for a married couple to preserve their wedding souveniers, as well as tell the story of their wedding and life together. * * The wedding globe typically displayed the bride’s wax flower crown, or bridal tiara along with selections from her bouquet and her husband’s boutonnière on a gilt wire frame ornately decorated with ormolu bird, flower, leaf, porcelain pieces and mirror motifs, all of which have symbolic meanings for the couple. This frame and mementos would sit under a protective glass dome, and over the years special items like photographs, little locks of their babies hair, jewelry, more ormolu symbols would be were added as the couple celebrated life moments. * * Globe de Mariées carry with them such a neat history and sentiment of days gone by. Finding a marriage globe in need of repair is a rare and thrilling experience for me! It means I will have the opportunity to honor the history of marriage globes while working with a bride to create a family heirloom for her special day.
