Hidden Treasures ... *WARNING: this post contains too many late night blabbers & pictures* After one trip to Lowe’s, one missed package from Amazon, and a second order placed, I finally received my mini hinges for this project. I knew I wanted to attach two nails on a hinge and that was about it. I had no idea where I was going with this, but I knew that the two designs had to be able to stand alone but also come together as a cohesive concept. After much deliberation and encouragement from @nail.apy to create some florals with my new @higel_official oil painting gel purchased from @haenails, I went to work! On the first night, I created a bouquet of flowers inspired by those seen in rich and vibrant oil paintings. Then, I attached the top portion and created the wings inspired by the golden cranes on royal Korean garments. I layered a bunch of tiny feather & seashell charms to create one large wing and pierced my nails for a modern twist. The inspiration I find from both Eastern and Western cultures bleeds into so many aspects of my life. I’ve written too many papers on the East-West dichotomy, but in the end, my conclusion is always pretty consistent: there are treasures to be found in both, individually and collectively. With this in mind, my task is to always heighten my sensitivity to the fine nuances of these cultures & hinge them together in the pieces I create. 💐
