“If you’re not outrageous, you’re not paying attention.” This collection is inspired by “the chained woman” who was spotted by accident in a livestream in China. She was chained by the neck, in a door-less basement, covered with just a blanket in the winter. She's mental as this point being locked by her (so-called) husband, and having gave birth to 8 children of his. The video sparked public outrage, a provincial investigation about "who she is", "what happened to her" and a soul-searching national conversation about the human trafficking situation. Li’s outrage is channeled in this collection via the knitted fabric, tangled & connected loops and structures; a shackled theme throughout.
