Eastern Survey Area – Breeding Population Estimates Also included in the 2022 Waterfowl Population Status Report are breeding population estimates for six common species groups from the ESA, covering eastern Canada and the northeastern states from Virginia to Maine. These data are used by federal and state agencies to inform duck hunting regulations in the Atlantic Flyway.
