“Market Square Blue Hour" Once a meeting place between American Indians and early explorers from England, France & Holland, Newburyport's Market Square was used to trade furs and fish back in the 1700's. A major fire in 1811 destroyed the area and the brick structures were rebuilt as beautiful 19th century architecture that helped get the area added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Market Square is now known as the largest piece of Federalist-era architecture in the U.S., full of brick row houses with shops and restaurants below. I stayed in a small inn in downtown Newburyport just a few minutes walking distance from this beautiful area when I was up there at the very end of December 2018. I enjoyed walking around town to capture some of this beautiful architecture mixed with a little holiday charm during both daylight and nighttime conditions. I captured this image using a 10 second exposure just as darkness fell and was able to capture some amazing dark blue tones in the sky. Especially loved the shadows on the brick street created by one of the shop's brightly lit windows as the cherry on top of this amazing scene. • • • • • #aswediscover #moodygrams #earthfocus #gramslayers #discoverearth #VisualAmbassadors #amazing_shots #yourshotphotographer #depthsofearth #artofvisuals #earth_shotz #wondermore #newengland #mynewengland #ig_color #christmas #pineandwater #clpicks #roamtheplanet #mycountryhome #thatsgoodhousekeeping #massachusetts #newburyport #earthpix #earthfocus
