I used to take the kids out of school a lot. To be honest, I was not that impressed with the education programming and and felt that life experience was much more valuable and enriching. ⁠ ⁠ And so for many seasons, I would pull the kids out of school and we would head off to the Northwest desert for the Australian winter. ⁠ ⁠ My wife at the time was not that into the desert so it would just be me and the kids camping out in the desert. It was a great time, they would play and explore all day long, while I surfed and cooked our meals over an open fire. ⁠ ⁠ Never once did they ever say they were bored and I don’t recall ever being angry at them for anything. We were basically just a bunch of happy campers living life to the fullest. ⁠ ⁠ To this day these guys still say that our bluff camping trips were the best times ever. I tend to agree.
