UCLA Health scientist and doctor, Antoni Ribas, MD, has received a $5 million grant from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine for his research on an innovative, wound-healing gel. Dr. Ribas hopes to use the gel as a treatment for venous leg ulcers — a painful condition which can cause chronic pain, loss of function and mobility, social isolation and increased time spent in hospitals. With the grant, Dr. Ribas will be able to perform further testing and hopefully improve the lives of many living with chronic wounds.
