Named after his grandpa and the neighborhood they were from in Tehran, Nerssess Vanak is a restaurant with a story that spans three different countries. Ethnically Armenian, the family owned and operated a restaurant in Iran since 1960.
In Iran, they originally just sold lavash, but after immigrating to LA, they made Dizi their main dish - something that you don’t typically see in other restaurants. Traditionally a working class food, some people have it assembled by the waiter, while others like to do it themselves, usually served with pickles (torshi)
