Your toddler is loving on your baby, excited to help, and things are going so smoothly. You’re thinking: “This isn’t so bad…” And then it hits them: “Wait. This baby is staying?! And now I have to share Mom? W H A T.” Suddenly, you’re facing bedtime battles, overnight wakeups, and lots of tears (maybe both of you 😅). As a mom of 4 and a pediatric sleep expert, I’ve seen this time and time again. Here are my top tips for preventing and managing toddler sleep regressions when a new sibling arrives: ✨ Practice other caregivers doing bedtime before your newborn arrives. 🚼 Avoid moving your toddler from the crib just because you need it for the baby. Instead borrow or buy a second safe sleep space, or make the transition well in advance. 📖 Keep a consistent bedtime routine with clear cues and structure. 💛 Spend 1:1 time during the day. Just 15 minutes of focused connection pays off at bedtime. 📅 Use a visual calendar to set the expectation for which parent is doing bedtime. 🙅‍♀️ Avoid “rescuing” your partner during tough moments. Tantrums are often about wanting the preferred parent, and jumping in can reinforce the behavior. Toddler regressions are normal when a new baby arrives, but with structure, connection, and teamwork, you can all find your rhythm again. Trust me I’ve experienced this 3 times! ______________________ #arestfulnight #sleepconsultant #sleepcoach #sleeptraining #nycmoms #megoleary #nycsleepconsultant #nycsleeptraining #babysleep #sleepschedule #toddlersleeptips #Hobokenmoms #fairfieldmoms #westchesternymoms #hudsonvalleymoms #austinmoms #bayareamom #uesmoms #uwsmoms #brooklynmoms #momlife #dadlife #nycmoms #nycbaby #newbornsleep #babysleephelp #toddlersleeptips #newsiblingtips _______________________ ▫️Toddler Sleep Regression ▫️Sibling Sleep Regressions ▫️Westchester Sleep Consultant ▫️A Restful Night
