Knitting was one of the things I wanted to learn in 2026 and I decided to give myself a head start by trying it out while on my break from work. Let’s just say I’m hooked. I chose to make @petiteknit’s viral Sophie Scarf after it absolutely took over my algorithm and it was such a good first project. Challenging, yes, but a relatively quick stitch and a fun take on the classic “first project” scarf. It also stretched my skills right from the get go. I watched SO many videos online to teach myself. After a rocky start (I spent almost an entire day trying to figure out how to do the increases), I finally *got it* and I was off to the races. Keeping track of my rows with a digital row counter and then crossing off each section in a notebook made it a more mindless project. I watched a ton of Dawson’s Creek and I’m just really proud of the final product. Not necessarily the scarf itself– don’t look too closely as there’s a hole somewhere + a few split strands– but for diving right in and going for it.
I’m currently whipping up a quick scarf for Jack (per his request) and then I’m going to find my next project... Maybe a sweater?!?!
