On Friday, January 30th, PHYLUM will be closed as we take part in the National Shutdown. As a small business still trying to survive in these crazy times, this was not an easy decision. But it comes from a place of care and responsibility. We are showing up in solidarity with our local community and with people across the country who are being harmed by the actions ICE continues to take. Silence is not an option when people are living in fear, when families are being torn apart, when citizens are being killed, and when basic dignity, decency, and humanity are so brazenly dishonored. After much deliberation as a team, we ultimately chose to pause and stand with those most impacted, and to affirm that everyone deserves safety, respect, and the right to live without fear. Please know that we as a small business community in Palm Springs collectively stand against these atrocities, no matter how each individual business chooses to participate in this moment. Whether open or closed, please continue to support local businesses, now and always. PHYLUM has always aimed to be more than a retail space. We strive to create a place that is safe, joyful, and welcoming for all. A shop rooted in love, creativity, and connection. When we reopen this Saturday and Sunday, 10% of sales this weekend will be donated to the TODEC Legal Center, which empowers local immigrant communities through legal services, education, and advocacy.
