Greek Namedays have their own quiet magic ✨ Not about age or candles but about the name you carry and the story behind it. They are one of those traditions that instantly connects Greeks in the diaspora back to something older and shared/ a little thread of continuity that follows you no matter where you live. Non-Greeks are always so curious about it, and I love explaining how a Nameday isn’t just a celebration it’s a small anchor to heritage. Today is mine — Saint Catherine’s Day — and I’ve always loved that she wasn’t remembered for royalty or miracles but for her mind. A woman known as an intellectual, sharp and unafraid to challenge the world around her. I love carrying a name tied to someone who stood so firmly in her ideas. Thanks Mummy and Dad 🤍 My Greek passport still says Aikaterini, even though everyone calls me Κάθριν 😄 So happy Nameday to all the Katerinas, Katherines, Catherines, Katerines, and every spelling and story in between. Χρόνια πολλά σε όλες ✨
