You may have noticed pools of water around our interpretive center and parking lot during some of your visits. At high tide, seawater flows from Huntington Harbor, through a passage under the driveway, and into the surrounding mudflats. The amount of water in these "muted tidal cells" varies throughout the day and season. During low tides and warm conditions, patches of salt can be seen on the surface of the mud.
