The orphans at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (@r.e.s.c.u.e) are highly intelligent and emotional creatures that experience grief, just like we do. Like human babies,these elephant babies cannot survive without love and care. They arrive traumatized by the grief of losing their mothers and herd. Nurturing and caring for these orphans is a slow process and requires the love and devotion of their human nannies until they are fully recovered and able to be returned to the wild.
