Join us in sharing this post to call on world leaders to be AMBITIOUS and agree to protect at least 30% of our global ocean by 2030 in protected areas where no environmentally damaging activities are allowed. As #COP15 nears a final decision in Montréal this week, the Global Biodiversity Framework must include conserving at least 30% of the ocean in high-quality protected areas that DO NOT ALLOW environmentally damaging activities. Anything less will not be enough to avert a biodiversity catastrophe. Governments must meet the moment. We owe it to the ocean, to the planet, and to future generations.
