Research has indicated that 40-60% of Asian women living outside of Asia have endured patriarchal violence in their lifetime. Yet, their suffering, voices, stories, and murders are dismissed by society at large. Without Asian women, ethnic enclaves, known to be safe spaces for people of color to thrive, wouldn’t be possible. For example, an ethnic enclave located in Westminster is home to the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam. During Tết, Vietnamese women provide all their efforts to the community here in pursuit of culture and tradition and to make Westminster feel like home away from home.
