As the new Miss Universe sets into her new role, I can’t help but look back on the steps I took with the goal of reaching the international stage. Prepping for Miss USA was one of the most challenging yet rewarding times of my life. Not only was I accomplishing my goals as Miss Illinois USA, but I was growing as a woman, as a nurse, as a friend, and so much more. From late night shifts and early morning coaching, traveling across states, leaning on my support systems, while also supporting the kids in my state who will be the future leaders making this country better than we found it, I have no regrets. Thank you God, for this journey and the lessons learned. I am so lucky to have months to continue the work, Illinois.
