Did you know this rhino, Ganga, is not only a mother but also a grandmother? All by the age of 18! 🤯
IFAW first met Ganga when she was only four months old—when she lost her mother to a flood in 2004. She was rescued and, for three years, hand-raised by caretakers at the @wildlifetrustofindia's Center for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation in Assam, India.
Ganga was moved to Manas National Park in 2007 and, in 2010, after learning methods of survival, was released into the wild, where she continues to thrive. Although her story began without family in the picture, she has given birth to four calves over the years, one of which has even made her a grandmother!
Her rescue, rehabilitation, and release story has contributed to growing multiple generations of rhinos. Wish Ganga a Happy #GrandparentsDay in the comments! ❤️
