This week, senior members of the O.U.R. International Operations Team were in the Dominican Republic to visit with many of the law enforcement allies we supported in last month’s successful Operación Catleya, in which over 80 survivors were rescued and almost 20 suspected traffickers arrested. - Chief Magistrate Yoanna Ysabel Bejarán Álvarez thanked O.U.R. for being the lead NGO supporting both this investigation/operation and the ensuing aftercare for the survivors, and informed us that of the 18 suspects arrested, 11 had been denied bail and were currently in prison awaiting trial, and at least two more suspected traffickers remain at-large but are being sought. - In further meetings in the DR this week, the O.U.R. team discussed ways to build on our historic partnership dating back to 2014, current operational support, and joint projects for the future that cover the spectrum of local and regional conferences, training, operational support, and aftercare.
