Prepping my hair to add my styling products is a huge step in my routine. I cleanse, condition, and detangle in the shower. Once everything is rinse out and I’ve squeezed out the majority of the water on my hair, I use a plastic disposable shower cap to keep my hair from drying out since it dries out pretty quickly.
My hair is always stuck to my scalp, split vertically in several sections. For me, it is important that I prep my hair this way before adding my stylers rather than after.
The styling techniques that work for me are raking (upside down and side to side) followed by scrunching carefully and thoroughly to my roots. Air drying for about 15 minutes before diffusing allows my products to settle in and begin to form the cast for that extra hold our curls need.
Fine low density hair can be tricky to style for both volume and definition but can definitely be achieved.
