This was probably my favorite painting to have worked on. Even though it’s not a typical portrait with facial expressions, I hope it conveys still the depth and range of emotions intended. There’s a reason I’m an artist and not a poet, but there’s so much to this piece and I wouldn’t do it justice to just post the picture so here we go This painting is part of a series for someone special who’s going through a transformation of her own. She is shown immersed in water, which symbolizes healing and change. Not the abrupt type, but the patient and transformative kind that carves canyons. Her body is draped in wet silk, one of the strongest natural fibers. Pound for pound, silk is stronger than steel. Everything in this image is soft, from the curves of the body to the palette. Despite its softness, the female body is inspiring in its strength and resilience. The silk acts as a second skin, glazing her form rather than concealing. Through the female gaze, this painting highlights the feminine strength and separates the sensual from the sexual. So much love was put into the making of this piece and I’m proud to share it with you🤍 Oil on canvas. 16”x20” #oilpainting #oiloncanvas #femalegaze #femaleform #womenpaintingwomen #femaleartist #contemporaryart #figurativeart #figurativepainting #wetsilk #ruthbernhard #beautifulbizarre #delphianresidency @delphiangallery
