October Dump 1-Cause it was giving and I couldn’t keep it to myself. 2- I was connected to @danielleprescod through @stepupwomensnetwork hosting their first ‘Black Girl Town Hall’ and was glad I finally got to meet her in person after reading her debut memoir. It’s an incredibly honest reflection on the experiences that shaped her as Black woman and I love that it affirms that there’s room for all diverse our experiences as Black girls moving through the world. We’re not a monolith and all our voices matter. 3-It’s 2022 and a damn shame that Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack (okay and Stuart Weitzman but like, c’mon) are the only shoe stores that I know I can walk into and try on shoes in my size. When’s the last time you saw a size 12 when you were shoe shopping? Exactly. Anyway, the boots are a WIN. 4) I talk about there being nothing like NYC in the summer but honestly there’s nothing like it in the Fall either. 5-Fit check? I would wear a flannel shirt the rest of year if I could. 6- You know, there’s something really divine about knowing that someone has prepared for you. Thanks @saycheech_ for giving me a soft place to land. 7- My 2022 in a nutshell. It’s too early to recap, right? 8-Mushrooms in the air fryer! BAYBEEE! 9-I had an in and out trip to LA to move out of my storage unit and I panicked just before I starting the move because I underestimated how heavy my stuff was. When I came back from Ghana my plan was always to move right back to LA. But I didn’t. I came home to NYC. And the time here has been purposeful and restorative in so many ways. Anyway, I just didn’t anticipate having to deal with a room full of stuff in 3hrs. But somewhere in the middle of my mini meltdown I remembered that the despite the story I often tell myself about being scattered,—I ALWAYS figure sh*t out. So for the first two hours, I took my time and moved piece by piece on the cart the place provided. I documented a bit of it so I could remind myself 🗣I ALWAYS FIGURE IT OUT. Then I called a TaskRabbit (he was fine as hell, too) to do the rest because the girls said we’re living a soft life. 😝 10. Act like you know. Something special coming up on this soon. 😘
