State-owned oil company Petroperú has a history of violating Indigenous rights in the Peruvian Amazon. A few weeks ago, on Sep 16, 2,500 barrels of crude oil from a pipeline operated by them spilled into a river in the Peruvian Amazon, affecting several Indigenous communities. The pipeline transports crude from the Amazon to Peru's desert coast to be refined.
