Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. If you’ve been to our shows this month you may have noticed harm reduction tables run by local organizations doing incredible and necessary work in their communities. It’s been a privilege to watch and learn from them, and also to see how much work still needs to be done. Some venues don’t let us give out Narcan or fentanyl test strips because their insurance policy considers it “condoning drug use”. Some consider the naloxone injection kits “sharp objects” and ban the needles the same as they would knives. In Wyoming, there are still no good samaritan laws on the books to protect someone who tries to reverse an overdose. Please take some time today to learn about harm reduction, naloxone, test strips, and what you can do locally. The National Harm Reduction Coalition website is a great place to start. And if you’re in New Haven, CT tonight, Geologist will be distributing naloxone at the merch booth from 7-8. Thanks for keeping each other safe out there. @overdoseawarenessday @harmreductioncoalition @4drecovery @vchhealthcare @boylestreetcommunityservices @safelinkalberta @betheplace @openaidalliancemt @wyoharmreduction @iowahrc @omaha_autonomous nap_harmreduction @beatsoverdose @maineaccesspoints @nyhre @southriverdalechc
