Per the @latimes Governor Newsom’s CARE Court proposal, a controversial plan where people living with a serious, untreated mental illness could be referred for a court-ordered care plan that lasts up to two years passed the final legal hurdle to become law. The CA State Assembly approved the measure 62-2 and the Senate gave unanimous approval with a final 40-0 vote. The law has until September 30th to be signed into law by Governor Newsom.

What are your thoughts on the passing of this legislation? Do you feel CARE Court implementation would be a game changer in the toolkit addressing homelessness?
