Another Great Monthly Hike!!! Just what we all needed! A beautiful day filled with great convo, laughter, reflection and fellowship! Solstice Canyon Trail is special one not only because of it’s beautiful views of the ocean, but it also tells a story of black excellence. Our group photo is in front of a home designed by Paul R Williams, who became the first African-American member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1923. He was a world renowned architect who perfected drawing architectural plan upside down because although his talents proceeded many white counterparts, many of the white people he designed homes for wouldn’t let him sit directly next to them to draw his design. Even with these barriers, his plans were so good that he went on to design over 2,000 private and public buildings in his career.
