The LGB Alliance doesn’t think I exist (as a nonbinary person) so they’ll be glad to know that I wrote about them in my MA dissertation 👏🏻 🏳️⚧️
And that’s all they wrote... and by that I mean 15,000+ words on how transgender and nonbinary students do not receive inclusive RSHE (sex education) as their cisgender fellow pupils, how the new RSHE guidance falls short on supporting queer pupils, how teachers are left without training on how to deliver sex education material, how trans moral panic means we are far away from an inclusive curriculum & general support within schools for trans & nonbinary pupils & how members of our leadership (I cited you Truss & Suella) continue to hinder trans rights. It’s been an emotional research & writing process, one that has certainly impacted me personally as a nonbinary person. There’s so much more that needs to be done for our trans young people in regards to sex education.
I worked full-time in a school, delivering several RSHE lessons & running the LGBTQIA+ lunch time club, whilst also studying a Masters degree in Gender, Sexuality & Culture full-time, & creating content online at the same time. It’s been a wild year & many people didn’t think I could do it all, but I did! And I did it whilst also being dyslexic & receiving minimal support, having to go online because of covid, having to find a different job, starting a new job, & a whole lot of personal stuff too. But I wouldn’t change the last year!
As I say in my dedication/acknowledgements, I ask the LGB+ community to stand with their trans & nonbinary siblings, we are not the enemy. LGB with the T. Always. 🏳️⚧️💓
& for now, my academic studies are finished 👀🎉🎊🥳
