We've partnered with @AmericanLibraryAssociation and @UniteAgainstBooksBans during #BannedBooksWeek (September 18-24) to bring attention to book censorship and fight for the freedom to read⁠ ⁠ In 2021, the ALA reported recording the “most number of censorship attempts" since they started keeping track more than two decades ago. This is more than twice the reported figure in 2020. And currently, the total number of book challenges in 2022 is set to exceed 2021 record.⁠ ⁠ Book bans threaten not just the access to read, but it prohibits students from learning more about themselves and their world and prevents educators and caregivers from building on teachable moments.⁠ ⁠ Throughout this week, we'll be sharing resources and honoring banned authors and stories online at our site and on our socials.
