“Generic” adjective: characteristic of or relating to a class or group of things; not specific. For example “Jazz” is a generic term for a wide range of different styles of music.
✨Let me assure you, that though people-human beings- are very much the same; in that we all live a collective and shared human condition with common feelings, desires, hopes, fears, and obstacles; you and I are not in fact “generic.” The beautiful notion that we are not alone, though true, does not mean we aren’t unique, specific, and special.
God has created you, knit you together in your mother’s womb, with purpose. His will for your life, even if you don’t fully know or comprehend it yet, is singular.
✨This doesn’t mean he intends for us to live singularly. Quite the opposite in fact. It means He intends for you to live in community, sharing your own lived experiences, perceived feelings, uncovered knowledge, and unique understanding of the world around you as you grow, learn, change, and gain wisdom from the Lord. Your art, your voice, your smile, your style, your very soul is singular. That’s why God created you in the first place. Because there needs to be one of you in the world. Don’t forget that.
