I was on Oxford street today with 2 huge @primark bags stuffed with duvets (for the girls) thinking how am I going to get home on the train with this but the mama bear in me took over and I thought I’ll get a taxi to the station and figure the rest out. I had been waiting for ages when I saw a taxi I waved and out of no where a man jumped out of no where laughing and flagged down the taxi in front of me and ran towards it. What triggered me wasn’t the bad manners of this guy trying to upstream me but his arrogant, rude and presumptive manner that he could bully me, that I wouldn’t do anything about it and thought I was powerless to do anything about this. This guy has probably spent decades talking down and throwing his weight around with zero consequences like so many people who have had to swallow and deal with this type of behaviour. Not on my watch so I ran towards him with my bags shouting some choice words and the shock on his face confirmed everything I had thought. He didn’t expect he would be challenged. His friends were laughing at me behind him and when they saw I wasn’t messing around and my power they laughed saying we told him not to do it. I think it represents where we are in terms of BLM, misogyny and bullies. Stand up for yourself every single time, let people know this behaviour will not be tolerated anymore and that you are the centre, you have worth and you will not tolerate this bullshit anymore #privilege #misogny #notonmywatch #taxi #blackcab #cab
