This Sunday I will be running from Brooklyn to Manhattan as part of Team Tina’s Wish in the 2022 United Airline NYC Half Marathon! Running this race after experiencing my journey with ovarian cancer in 2019 means more to me than I can articulate. I’m so proud of my body for its incredible strength to heal from this disease. Not only have I been able to fully recover but am stronger than I’ve ever been! Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecologic cancer. Unfortunately, there is no early detection test for the disease. This means that 80% of women are diagnosed at advanced stages when the chance for survival is only 27%. However, if diagnosed in stage I, the chance for survival is 92%. Although there are many important global crisis currently taking place, the research that is being funded by Tina's Wish will not only lead to innovations in the early detection and prevention of ovarian cancer, but will have an impact on research into fighting all types of cancer.
