I am an immigrant from Spain 🇪🇸When I was only 22 I left everything behind; all my friends, family, my job my stability... to persuade big dreams. I barely knew English when I moved to California, I had no friends or connections & only 400€ in my bank account. I took a flight from Spain to San Diego and started a super random nanny job that I had no idea if it was gonna work out for me or not. I started a new life as an immigrant in another country. It was very challenging at first, adapting to a new culture, lenguaje, food, job, lifestyle, friends... Everything was new to me and I learned so much about myself and about what it means to be an immigrant and what it means to reinvent yourself. I don’t think that being an immigrant will ever be easy because it’s extremely challenging and sometimes I feel homesick. I will always be a Spaniard, I will always have an accent, I will always listen to my roots, but now after almost a decade living in the USA I also feel that I belong here. Sometimes I think: what would of happened if I never took that plane?
