my 2016 and your 2016 was NOT the same 🙂🙃 (1) i’m not a fan of hopping on trends and all that but i thought this could be a means of opening up, being vulnerable and leaving a meaningful message. firstly no, i don’t believe in the 2026 is the new 2016 allegations…quite frankly on the contrary, i think that mindset can keep us stuck reminiscing on what could’ve been when in reality we can remain present and enjoy what we have in front of us, even if it doesn’t feel like what 2016 felt like. 2016 was such a pinnacle period of time for me in my life. It was when I learned to embrace change and growth. It started off with me avoiding to face reality, not knowing who I really was and unhappy with certain things about my life. I’d been in the gym since Summer ‘14 but I wasn’t seriously committed the way I was about to be. I had a personal trainer, I had the ability to nourish myself properly but I still had bad habits that I carried along with me like poor sleep, excessive junk food & soda as well as a chronic addiction to video games. By 2016 I did see changes in my body composition for sure as from 2014 I was HEAVY and late 2015 into 2016 I saw changes…looking back now even just seeing small changes was something I appreciated alot. I then met someone who saw me training and for once kept it real with me, and encouraged me to make changes with regards to my diet and training regime. It’s when I started to understand more with regards to exercise science, resistance training, strength and conditioning, dietetics and nutrition through my own research, online courses etc. and I immediately fell in love. I essentially got into Powerlifting and Calisthenics which helped me to appreciate and respect the gym so much more, but also learned how moderation is key and tracking macros can really contribute alot to your holistic health. This was around February and I was shedding weight but I made it a goal to have abs by EDC; it was going to be my first EDC and I wanted to enjoy it to the point where I would be able to take my shirt off, something I’ve never done before. I was dedicated. I had my goals and I was ambitious, I knew I would accomplish them. #2016 #mcm #tbt
