Naomi Dattani X Club71 Naomi is an all-round wonderful human, and cricket player. One of the first females to sign a professional contract in England, she plays for Sunrisers. Naomi bats as good as she bowls and is looking forward to playing in The Hundred for London Spirit throughout August. Naomi’s journey to professional cricket has not been linear. She found herself without a club or development support after being dropped from the MCCU programme in her 3rd year studying at Loughborough University. Faced with difficult decisions, Naomi decided to invest in herself and take control of her own development by applying what she’d already learned, self-funding additional support for physical and mindset development, and created opportunities for herself to play cricket in Australia. “Every time I make an investment, it pays off later on the pitch.” In recent years, cricket has been forced to reflect on its policies of equality, diversity and inclusivity. Naomi is proud to be a visible role model, especially for young people of South Asian heritage and she has a powerful message to share.
