A month from today @visforvoices audio-play will have its world premiere in Ghana at the Nubuke Foundation. I went back to Ghana at the end of this summer and got to do a site visit at Nubuke and I cannot believe we’re finally a month out. I am so excited for this piece to finally be out in the world and grateful for the journey to reach this point. When I think about the the last two years, I did quite a bit of moving. I moved out of my first apartment, moved to LA, moved to Ghana and then moved back to Harlem. With every move, @visforvoices was with me. These stories, this project, this campaign and this sisterhood. We pored over nearly 800 pieces, submitted from Black women around the world. It’s been an honor to get this far. And some days I feel like I don’t have much figured out. I’ve been teaching elevator pitches for a decade and my own elevator pitch could use some work. I still find myself googling ‘what temp do I wash light clothes’ before doing my laundry. But keep moving and covering ground. I keep earnestly putting one foot in front of the other. Sometimes one foot is dragging. I used to be afraid to share very specific projects related to my work because I didn’t have it “branded” first. Well, my life is in my work, and —a girl who keeps moving IS my brand. Moving towards everything good God has for me. Y’all remember when one of the manifestation girlies said pray each day “Dear God—show me how good it can get?” I’ve been praying. So I’m sharing this work, and the goodness brewing in my life that will be out in the world a month from today. Thank you @ajamonet for trusting me to bring this project into the world with you. Thank you @eveensler for the the joy and every single YES. If you’re not already, follow @visforvoices and move with us. : #holliswashere
