"Land of the Free" from @homefreeguys is filled with patriotic athems—but when I was approached to design the album artwork, we needed to discuss what being American means today. I pitched that a local quiltmaker hand-make my designs to then be photographed—adding duct tape and staples and various materials to create a literal and metaphorical patchwork of a country trying to hold itself together. But when nearing deadlines prohibited our craftspeople from finishing the job by album release, I took on our metaphor digitally.
