So it only took a few years of constant and tireless effort by activists for the UN to release a report on China’s crimes against humanity against Uyghurs 🙄. China may have been putting immense pressure on these organisations, but what is the point of the UN if it succumbs to pressure by genocidal regimes? I know this has been the frustration of many people in the past. Well, at least they finally said *something* and it pretty much supports everything we’ve been saying. China has released a response that’s the longer than the original report, which I haven’t read yet but which I assume is full of outright lies... It’s a win tbh. Every step counts! 🙌🏼. One good point I’ve read is that the very conservative nature of this report, and it’s use of mainly Chinese government sources, will make it more difficult for people to refute. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Hopefully this will lead to something bigger. Shoutout to every single person who has been working on this, the activists, advocates, researchers, people who are giving testimonies, the translators, journalists, protestors, people who are spreading awareness through all means.
