We’re losing 1.3 million acres of Sagebrush Country each year. That’s bad news for birds, other wildlife, and people. But a new report offers a path to conserve this iconic western landscape and uses some of the latest mapping tools to identify healthy and degraded sagebrush areas and where and how it’s being lost. “These new findings make crystal clear how serious the situation is—how much we, humans and wildlife, will lose if we fail to act,” says Audubon’s Sara Brodnax. “But the report also provides a way forward. The researchers have developed a powerful tool for our collective toolbox, where leveraged with on-the-ground commitments, we can make a real difference for all those that depend on a healthy sagebrush country.” Want to read the full report and learn how the new data and tools can help guide conservation efforts to slow the loss of sagebrush habitat?
