Before and After of our primary bedroom. When we purchased our house the primary bedroom and bathroom were both painted "Pumpkin." The listing photo included shows an extremely brightened version of the walls and carpet. We replaced the carpet with new hardwood floors and painted the walls SW Spare White. After sleeping inside a pumpkin, I wanted a soft and relaxing color palette for our bedroom. Our old furniture felt too large, dark, and masculine. So, I purchased West Elm's Mid-Century bed in Acorn. I love it. It matches the hardwood and wool rug. I think hardwood floors look timeless and they are kid and pet friendly. As styles change it's easier to update the room with a new rug. The chair, Pottery Barn's SoMa Newton, is comfy, neutral and small. I painted the triptych painting above the bed by painting over wood picture plaques from Kirklands that only cost $10 each. I liked a painting I saw at Anthroplolgie, but I needed a smaller size and a different shade. I think mine came out pretty good for an amateur.
