#tbt 🦋 Yesterday @thelohm was invited to participate in the FIRST ever listening session with the New Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Washington DC to share our concerns & recommendations on oversight and implementation of the First Step Act, CARES ACT, Earned timed Credit and previously Incarcerated people providing approved programs to our sisters and brothers inside. I was joined by my sister & partner @jamilatdavis and brother from @verainstitute amongst many other national leading organizations like @reform @nacdl @aclu_nationwide @thesentencingproject and more. Pictured here were the ONLY 3 directly affected people at the table along with Director Peters. I want to thank MY family & friends @reform @edyhaney @jessicajackson @alexgudich for ensuring we had a seat at the table. Dr. @jamilatdavis - to think the same system we were incarcerated in together, dreaming and creating the programs we have now implemented on those Federal Prison Bunks in Danbury CT to sitting at the table to get those same programs approved as earned time credit in the system is nothing BUT GOD!!
