SANDSTORM (غُبره) / 2022 22”x22”x2” / clay, mesh, LED I experienced sandstorms in Baghdad as a child. I remember hiding at home and looking out the window. I imagined myself being dropped in a glass of orange juice.. or looking at the world through an orange filter, like one of those vinyl filters my dad had in his photography darkroom. It usually rains after the storm, and the raindrops turn to mud drops. I would run to the backyard and play. The smell of wet sand was always a sign of the storm ending.
