I gotta say it’s great to see that @dave_swindells has finally got his ‘Acid House As it Happened’ out.... Dave was our ‘absolute’ biographer of that entire era... he would go out pretty much every night with his camera, his notebook and his passion for club culture. We’re so fortunate to have had him at the helm of this movement from a journalistic perspective. This was a time when the ‘Agenda’ in the UK music press was still widely being led by NME and Melody Maker... trust me they didn’t ‘switch on and tune in’ until the Chemical Brothers 😵👀....yes there were underground mags and columns in the back of The Face, Dazed, Record Mirror and Blues and Soul but no one dedicated their life to the scene in London like Dave. He wrote up the essential Nightlife column in @timeoutlondon which was the only way to get the word out to the greater mass...and he was always ‘right across the board’... from Latin nights to LGBTQ... he would be at Wag... Queer Nation... Do at the Zoo and as you can see inside his book... the radio room at The Rockley Sands Weekender in Feb 88.... Yeh that’s me and @thediabolicalliberties and the originator of Acid Jazz himself Sir Cristopher Bangs of Kingston😃....And all these years later there’s Dave attending @weoutherefest !!!! Mr Swindles...you are a Legend!!
